Curry Chicken Recipe DYROGUE

I'm working hard on DYROGUE. There are so many things I want to fit in the Site, that sometimes I forget about the posts I promise.

I've kept busy today! I started a Blog Sale in Shop, I made a portal for my recipes on the homepage and now I want to take care of the foodie side of this blog.

Sitting in bed, quietly (it's 13 o'clock and I still hadn't had my coffee) I doge Andrei's limbs with my laptop. I do not know if he's dreaming or just fooling with me, but his arm just landed on my keyboard in mid-sentence. "Heey! Keep your hands to yourself, you!" I think amused, looking at his innocent figure, while compromising my "morning" writing. I'll go cook him a surprise afterwards.

The photos below immortalize my first attempt to cook something with Indian flavor. I would love to go to India, to taste their dishes, to convince myself I had it right.

Until then, I'll help you cook my curry chicken, with a a bit of Indian romance. ( I gather you've read Eliade's "Maytrei".. honestly, I would rewrite the ending, but that's another story.)

What you need:

  • Basmati Rice. (The one you boil in those tiny bags. I find them most practical and tasty. A bag is enough for two people.)
  • Curry powder
  • Nutmeg
  • Honey
  • Chilli powder
  • Clove
  • Starch
  • Soy sauce
  • Butter
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • Chicken breast

If you want, you can make things interesting, by adding some extra ingredients next to the meat. Like sliced peppers, mushrooms, onion rings, zucchini or dried tomatoes.

Choose a few of the ingredients listed above, (I would suggest no more than 3, so no flavor gets lost ) and cook them with the meat.

Am fost harnica astazi! Am pus in picioare Shop-ul, am facut un portal pentru retete pe pagina principala si acum vreau sa ma ocup de latura gurmanda a blogului.

Sezand in pat, linistita, ( e ora 13 si inca nu mi-am baut cafeaua ) feresc laptopul de membrele lui Andrei. Nu stiu daca viseaza sau numai se joaca cu mine, dar in mijlocul frazei ma trezesc cu bratul lui pe tastatura. "Heey! Tine-ti mainile acasa!" ma gandesc amuzata, uitandu-ma la figura lui inocenta, in timp ce-mi compromite scrisul de "dimineata". Ma duc imediat sa-i gatesc o surpriza. 

Pozele de mai jos imortalizeaza prima mea incercare de a gati ceva cu aroma indiana. Mi-ar placea sa ajung in India, sa degust bucatele lor si sa ma conving, ca intradevar, o nimerisem.

Pana atunci, va ajut sa obtineti puiul meu cu curry, parfumat cu o idila indiana. ( Ma gandesc ca ati citit toate Maytrei, a lui Eliade. Eu i-as rescrie sfarsitul, dar asta e alta poveste. )

Ce ai nevoie:

  • Orez Basmati. ( Cel care se fierbe in punguta mi-se pare cel mai practic si cel mai gustos. O punga ajunge pentru doua persoane. )
  • Praf de Curry
  • Nucsoara
  • Miere
  • Praf de ardei iute
  • Cuisoare
  • Amidon
  • Sos de soia
  • Unt
  • 2 Catei de usturoi
  • Piept de pui

Daca vrei, poti sa nu te rezumi numai la carne. Fa lucrurile mai interesante cu feliute de ardei gras, champignoane sau hribi, rondele de ceapa, dovlacei sau rosii uscate.

Alegi cateva ingrediente din cele enumerate de mai sus, ( as sugera sa nu fie mai mult de 3, ca sa nu se piarda gusturile ) si le gatesti impreuna cu carnita.

How to:

  • Boil the rice in a small recipient. Add only as much water until the bag completely  drowns.
  • Add curry powder to the boilling water, until it turns yellow. It should be an intense color.
  • Sprinkle salt by preference (I put approx. Half a teaspoon of sea salt)
  • Add half a teaspoon of ground nutmeg.
  • Let the water boil for approx. 7-10 min ( read on the package).
  • Remove the bag of rice and let the water boil, we'll make the sauce with it.
  •  Add 2 tbsp of honey, another tablespoon of curry, chilli powder, if you prefer, and 2-3 cloves. You'll have to pick them out at the end, or avoid them during the meal. ( they're not edible because the flavor is too intense)
  • In a cup, mix a tablespoon of starch with two of water. Pour the cup in the sauce. Let it simmer a little, to observe the thickness that you gained. Is the sauce too thin? Repeat the previous step and dissolve another tablespoon of starch in water. Adjust the sauce as you please.
  • Separately, in a pan, cook the chicken in butter, with salt and pepper. Sprinkle a little curry powder and add a teaspoon of soy sauce. (This ensures the meat looks appetizing, caramelizing it. Ah, it makes my mouth water!)
  • Before the chicken breast is done, add the pressed garlic.
  • Then move the sauce over the pan ( orthe other way around) and let it boil for another 5min, to combine the flavours.
  • You're done!

Ce ai de facut:

  • Pune orezul la fiert intr-un vas mai mic. Adauga numai atata apa cat sa innece toata punguta de orez.
  • Adauga in clocot praf de curry pana se ingalbeneste toata apa. Trebuie sa fie o culoare intensa.
  • Presara sare dupa preferinta ( eu pun aprox. jumatatea de lingurita de sare de mare )
  • Adauga o jumatatea de lingurita de nucsoara macinata.
  • Lasa sa fiarba apa, cca. 7-10 min ( scrie pe ambalaj ).
  • Scoate punguta de orez si lasa apa sa fiarba in continuare, in ea vom gati sosul.
  • Adauga 2linguri de miere, inca o lingura de curry, praful de ardei iute, dupa preferinta, si 2-3 cuisoare. Acestea va trebui sa le alegi la sfarsit din mancare, sau se le eviti in timpul mesei. ( Nu sunt comestibile din cauza aromei prea intense )
  • Intr-un pahar, amesteca o lingura de amidon cu doua de apa. Varsa paharul in sos. Lasa putin sa fiarba, ca sa observi grosimea pe care ai dobandit-o. E prea subtire sosul? Repeta miscarea anterioara si mai dizolva o lingura de amidon in apa. Ajusteaza sosul dupa plac.
  • Separat, intr-o tigaie, prajeste puiul in unt, cu putina sare si piper. Presara putin praf de curry si adauga o lingurita de sos de soia. ( Acesta asigura aspectul apetisant al carnii, caramelizand-o. Ah, am gura apa! )
  • Inainte sa fie patrunsa complet, adauga usturoiul presat.
  • Muta apoi sosul peste tigaie ( sau invers ) si mai lasa 5min la fiert, ca sa se imbine gusturile.
  • Gata!

TIP:

If you care about the look of the plate, or want to post your delicious work on Instagram, then rice shaping is a must.

Mold the rice into shape by pressing it into a container, right after you let the water leak out of the bag. Got a square or a small bowl? Rinse it with water and insert rice. Put some pressure on it, and return the dish to the plate. Ta-dam.

Daca si tie iti pasa de aspectul farfuriei, sau vrei sa-ti pui poza pe Instagram, cu munca ta delicioasa, poti asigura un look pretentios cu ajutorul orezului.

Obtine forme geometrice, apasandu-l intr-un recipient umed, dupa scurgere. Ai un paharel patrat sau un bol micut? Clateste-l cu apa si introdu orezul. Pune putina presiune pe el, si intoarce vasul in farfurie. Ta-dam.
